There are around 1,300 tourist enterprises in Ukraine employing over 6,000 specialists. The Kyiv’s historical and cultural potential is exceptionally rich and diverse. For example, there are 3,5000 monuments on the Kyiv’s balance sheet (62 archeological ones, 1,396 historical ones, 433 monuments, 1,814 architectural, city-planning, landscape architecture, landscape as well as scientific and technical objects. 

Apart from this, there is also a historical and cultural reserve. There are over 100 museums (of them, 24 are municipal ones, 33 theatres and studio theatres, 53 cultural objects, 141 libraries, 19 concert organisations and independent musical teams, and a circus. 

The Kyiv’s tourist enterprises service up to 6,000 people on a daily basis. Given the international experience as well as Kyiv’s potential, the business, cultural, and recreational tourism are developing. Furthermore, in the context of the forthcoming 2012 UEFA European Football Championship, the sport, youth, and family tourism are emerging. 

Annually, over a third of Ukrainians avail themselves of the services rendered by the Kyiv’s tourist companies. The same number of foreign tourists visits Kyiv. Moreover, this number is increasing. Over 200,000 visitors do sightseeing. Adding the museum excursions, the number of tourists makes up 3.5 million.  

Kyiv can offer around 100 different excursions. Also, tourist companies suggest travelling to other Ukrainian cities, such as Chernihiv, Bila Tserkva, Lviv, Kamyanets-Podilsky, etc.
